Going Down the Mogami River on the Basho Line

Mogami River, one of the three most rapid rivers of Japan, was used during the Edo period to transport by boat safflowers and other products of the valley. We know that Matsuo Basho, a famous poet of the Edo period, went down the river from his famous work The Narrow Road to the Interior in which he wrote “Gathering the rains of summer, how swift it is - Mogami-gawa River” (meaning that the heavy rains of summer flow into the Mogami River, whose flow and strength increase, pushing the boat even faster). The Basho Line lets you watch the beautiful scenery of the Mogami valley comfortably sat in a boat following the flow of the river. Come to listen to the boatman song surrounded by the great natural environment of the Mogami valley during any season of the year.
