Izumigadake Ski Resort

Izumigatake Ski Area can be reached within 50 minutes by car from central Sendai City. It’s open from late December to March, with 4 courses separated by skill level for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers to enjoy. Among these, the wide and gentle slope right at the foot of the mountain is ideal for beginning skiers. Also, there are two slopes for sledding so that even those who cannot ski can still freely enjoy snow activities. Since the resort is close to Sendai, which is known as the Tohoku region’s No. 1 city, after a day of skiing, you can also enjoy tourism, cuisine and shopping there as well. Furthermore, there is also an onsen just 5 minutes away by car from the resort, and if you stay overnight at Izumigatake Onsen, you can relax with meals with that traditional Japanese feeling and an open-air bath. If you prefer a day-trip onsen, head for Spa Izumigatake. After warming up in a hot spring surrounded by the nature at Izumigatake, you can head back to Sendai.
